God's love

Monday, April 3, 2006

I had a really encouraging conversation with John the other night. An excerpt:

John: consider the case of the newly married house wife
John: she slaves away all day
John: in the kitchen
John: preparing what she hopes to be a delightful meal for her husband
John: but somehow everything goes wrong
John: and her husband arrives home
John: the steak is well done
John: he likes it medium rare
John: the cake is dry
John: almost stale
John: nothing came out right
John: she feels like a miserable failure
John: but how does he feel towards her?
John: did he marry her because he thought she could cook well?
John: no
John: he married her because he loved her
John: not for what she could do for him
John: (cook, etc...)
John: but because of who she is
John: he loved her
John: not her cooking
John: now consider our case before God
John: we are born sinners
John: and not only that
John: but we have an enemy who is out to get us
John: he does everything he can to make us fail
John: God sees this
John: and loves us still
John: he loves us not because of what we can do for him
John: (what can we really do anyway?)
John: but because of who we are
John: because of who he has created us to be
Victoria: thanks for everything you've said, John
John: i enjoy thinking about these things :-)
John: it's therapeutic :-)
Victoria: they're hard for me to really understand
Victoria: the part of love that's more than chemical signals in the human mind
John: :-)
John: who created those chemical signals?
John: and why?
John: it was to demonstrate his love to us

:) I have way too many things to blog about. Maybe later.

Carley: Hey, it's really cool to hear that your family is making use of Daily Success. Thanks for the encouragement -- I'm afraid my blog has been somewhat of a confused and pessimistic nature as of late, but stick around and, by God's grace, I'll eventually get to the point where I seriously have only inspiring and wonderful things to report ^^.
Weien, Mr. Garlic, Harrumphing Man, Gabbler, and other assorted friendlies: my goodness you're (if I may say it again) the FUNNIEST PERSON I KNOW XDDD~ LOVE YUU
Ag: Thank you for inviting me to awesomely awesome things ^_^ you're the best. I really can't wait till you come back. Take care of yourself till then!
Unfair: Oh come on, that was only like a week longer than the usual XD
PJ: I am going to call you and we shall do something cool, soon! <3

Comments

"Far be it from us, that you post uncommented."

Staring at the manuscript, the image of a wiry man with a wide-bladed horse-cutter bound to one hand flashes briefly in your mind.

"Upon risk of bloody conflict, we pledge correspondence."

The image translates the figure to a kneeling position, with the weapon held horizontally. He taps his forehead to the flat of the blade three times.

"Regrettably, the Wreighter is bound in commitment to a prerogative which requires him to attribute comment precedence to certain others. He is sure that you understand, and sends you his superlative regards."

A swirl of brown ginkgo leaves rises in the mind's eye, obscures the image of the kneeling man, and with him, melts away...

Very cute drawings, I've never seen you use that style before. The expressions are perfect for what you're trying to convey.

Okay, so I'm really late...but I just have to tell you how much your drawings meant to me. I'm reading along, and I come to your art...the first one shows so much character--I love the disheveled hair look...she looks so stressed out, trying to please...wow, you know, she just looks like she needs a hug!!! And the second one--wow. So accurately shows that he's looking straight at her, without casting eyes on the messed up dinner behind her. And the analogy is so clear. I will remember this someday for when I'm feeling upset. God loves me for who I am!! Thanks, Vic, for showing how God's working in your life...He's using you and the struggles you go through to reach people you don't even know. Seriously! Ah, never mind, I won't convince you. You'll find out in eternity.

You know what else? I just put two+two together. I know Mary Kay's sister, Anna!! I mean, unless I'm totally, totally wrong, and we all know how often that is--null! (JK) In fact, I'm going to be spending a week with Anna at a string camp in July...

Ok, I'm up late again. God bless you...
