The CSS course at Indianapolis went well - John is a fine teacher! Here are some of the projects I worked on:
- Converting google to css, complete with a custom logo x)
- John's workshop layout, with my own header image swapped in :D
- Yellow layout
- Indigo layout
There's one more layout, but I might actually be using that one, so I won't show it here. In all, I will have to say I'm very glad I went. Most memorable was the Ritchies' tradition of everyone taking turns sharing their insights from their morning devotions at breakfast. That was pretty motivating to me in getting my devotions in ^^;... but I did receive a lot of insights that week. One came from the initially dry and lengthy tabernacle specifications in Exodus - once Ruth mentioned that we are tabernacles of God's spirit, it all started to apply!
And now, Acen 2005 photos~ (I also made some cool sketches that I might scan in later). We had a bigger bunch this year: Tara and I, as well as Paula and Kari! There were a lot more people in general this year. A pity that the paper signs from last year got outlawed though; there was no glomping at all. Next time I go to Acen, or any anime convention, I think I'll browse the Artist's Alley a bit more thoroughly. I love that place. Who knows, maybe even I will be there some day, if I go down the starving-comic-artist route ^__^.
Some art from a paintchat I was in last night for like 3 hours:
- Neko boy! It's been a while since I've drawn stuff like that ^^; coulda been better.
- P-chat roleplaying with some other people. Everything drawn in the peach color is from me. It started with the big peach cat sketching a portrait of the tan fox, and went from there.
- More roleplaying; just me and one other person who did everything in the blue color. Has a very specific timeline, but generally goes from left-top to bottom-right. It was intense.
Paintchatting is fun; I would REALLY love to do it with some of you people from real life... especially you people who own WACOM TABLETS!!! *pokes Deidre*
Other stuffs:
The Praise Symphony prelude was great! I have video clips if anyone wants them. It has been quite an experience for me setting this all up, but I'm glad I did it.
Last Tuesday, my department decided to utterly astonish me by celebrating Victoria Day (the Canadian holiday for Queen Victoria), complete with food, as well as weaponry and a cardboard crown they pillaged from the Children's Institute costume stash. Oh, and shouts of "God save the queen." And flowers from Mrs. Rees!! That was so incredibly nice of them ^^;; I still can't believe it.
Kash, Weien, Paula, thanks, I'm glad you liked the comic. All the work that went into capturing the perfect "shuuu" of Vol in the top-right corner of page 2 was worth it, I think xD. (If you haven't, make sure you read the entirety of Weien's comment on my last post - priceless!!!) And good to hear from you, David and Shiowei!
Hmm, this layout has been here for about five months now. Just curious; what kind of layout would you like to see next? I'm thinking of possibly breaking out of iframes and moving from greymatter to a better blogging engine.

My childhood friends rock

Good times reliving fond, fond memories! Last week, I went to my 5th grade reunion at Highlands, which was just mind-blowing. Everyone seemed so... the same, with a refined version of their 5th grade personality and looks. There was this weird niceness in the air, like you could have a decent chat with just about anybody—and oh, it was REALLY fun hearing people's college plans. Afterwards, I played 4-square with Kate, Jessica, and Katie, just like old times. Happiness :D.
Then on Friday, I got together with Kate, Ayesh, and Nibz (Kennedy group!) for gyros, walking through downtown Naperville, chilling at Barnes & Noble like the nerds we are, riding in Ayesh's mustang convertible with the top down and the music and heat BLASTING XD (it was cold out!), swinging in some creepy park at 11pm (only creepy after homicidal men in the woods were mentioned, lol). Good stuff; I've really missed those guys.
Alright, the BS comic, here ya go! I have to warn you that I'm deviating from the original story line a bit... I was wanting to have Volaris feel a lot more guilty and unhappy about things from the start. Not that you can see much story in those two pages. Who knows, I might do some more. I am planning to take a COD cartooning class in the fall, just for kicks, so you will see more of something... hehe
This Sunday comes a Praise Symphony performance at my church, after which I take off for a one-week css course in Indy with all my coworkers, and right after that, ACEN WEEKEND! Yayayayayayay
Hugs to Iano and Kash; hopefully the BS comic lives up to your first impressions ^_^;. Thanks for the encouragement. Thanks to Weien as well, and his crazy biology-related way of looking at everything. Just another sign of genius probably—this is how we know you're genuine. XD
