A little fun
Thursday, February 3, 2005
The Chinese class at COD has been awesome. I think the reason I have so much fun there is because it's like a break from reality—mostly due to the highly amusing interaction between my teacher and the class, made up of both older adults and college-aged students. (Interestingly, the older adults outnumber the college kids 3 to 1 here. The other day, a few of us were actually referred to as "those young punks" xD.)
It's true that the teacher scares me to death once in a while, since her teaching style necessitates putting you on the spot and getting into your face, but it's this teaching style of hers that is also mind-numbingly hysterical: the "Forced learning," the shameless scolding, the making-us-sing-Chinese-songs-in-3-part-round (you know it's coming when she exclaims, "Now! Let's have a little fun!"). I just hope I don't flunk out, ha.
I'm becoming a major fan of the anime Gundam Seed, thanks to the awesomest person ever, A.K.A. Tara, who's been getting the DVDs as they come out and letting us borrow them. The plot is AMAZING, the character design is pure genius! I'm starting to see that a truly addictive anime first gets you to fall in love with as many of the characters as possible, then kills a few of them, twists a few up in random relationships, and throws in a good moral or two. Bliss, I tell you! I should do fan-art sometime...
Praise Symphony is slowly falling into place as I begin to realize what my Core Group will look like. It's beautiful. Yep, beautiful things happen when I do a little more action-taking and a little less freaking out when faced with impossible tasks. Pray for me!
Another thing to pray for me about: college or working more at HQ? Normal route to Ok Job or staying around in Dream Job? That's the question...
Weien, you puddleglum-quoting-person you... you... you rock my world xD. Yup, Lost the bet. I'm so glad I can attend the same COD class as you and Emily, btw.
Yes, Tony, that's basically what I was getting at.
David, thanks for your comments. Go violists =D!
Now this is an awesome passage I came across as I was flipping through the Bible. Read it =). What I love about the Psalms and Proverbs is that they're always so immediately applicable...

Chinese, eh? Harper College doesn't offer Chinese... it has a rather limited selection of languages, in my opinion. Oh well... I guess if I didn't learn anything from several years of Chinese school, I probably wouldn't learn that much from a college class either. *grins
*I'll be sure to pray for you. That is a great passage! I love the Psalms...

Resisting the urge to contest the so-called shortest comment ever; hi.
Oh, about the teacher's scaring us to death once in a while... I had lunch with Debra today and she said that Mrs. W freaked her out every day of last week... er, or that sort of thing. So I think everybody kind of gets that.
We signed up for Chinese school, we got Chinese school. But it's interesting singing in Chinese at loud and presumably cheerful tones, though... Good thing that she pointed out our singing "...you yi wan sui..." in zombie-like tones. "Ju bei tong ying..." *coughs haggardly
*Awaiting fan-art. (in other words, "FAN ART! NOW!!") Remember your priorities: PS, Have fun, do fan art, watch Inuyasha, eat. Roughly in that order. Studying your PinYin couldn't hurt, either. Or unloading the dishes.
Prayer Jah Seh!

YES, don't freak out. I believe that it has been scientifically proven that freaking out is hazardous to your health. ;P heehee. *Hey, it's good to hear about how things are going in IL. I miss you guys! I'm afraid this is going to be a rather unconnected comment. :P Umm...Keep on. :D
I am tempted to say.....
Word up!
